#03. YouthDecide Ambassadors! Meet Giulio del Giudice

After taking part in the Regional Workshops, some young participants were invited to continue their journey with YouthDecide 2040. The initiative was created by WP3 leader Jeanne Perreul, Participatory Projects Manager at Missions Publiques, to keep young people actively involved in the project while preparing for the next stage: the National Workshops held across Europe in April and May 2026.

As volunteers, the Ambassadors supported the process in different ways: they helped review translated materials, spread the word about the workshops, reach new participants and, in some cases, support facilitators during the assemblies.

Today, let’s meet Giulio del Giudice! he is a youth worker and trainer who holds a PhD on sustainable and regenerative tourism in UNESCO Creative Cities. He is involved in several organisations, including ESN, AIGU, AIS, DestinAction, Europiamo, and Legambiente. Within ESN, he works as a trainer, facilitator, and Liaison Officer for the European Youth Forum, and is active in the Italian Youth Council.

YouthDecide 2040. Can you tell us your first memory of democracy? 

Giulio del Giudice. My first memory about democracy is a lack of it: the nomination of the representative of the class in primary school, where no democratic election was held, but the teacher chose my deskmate without asking to others students or thinking about a fair process. 

YouthDecide 2040. You first joined YouthDecide 2040 as a participant in the Southern Europe Regional Workshop in Barcelona. Before arriving, what did you imagine the workshop would be like, and how did you find the process of imagining the future? 

Giulio Del Giudice. It was my second time coming back to Barcelona after my Erasmus, and I was really excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the imagination and proposals for the democracy of the future!

YouthDecide 2040. You had the chance to experience YouthDecide 2040 from different perspectives: as a participant, as an Ambassador, and later again during a National Workshop in Italy. What changed for you when you saw the workshops from these different roles and context (southern Europe regional participants and italian participants? 

Giulio Del Giudice. The workshop developed from the 1st time in Barcelona, also because ours was one of the 1st regional workshops, instead in Lecce we had more digital tools and critical points that arose in BCN where removed from the process. The main difference for me was also related to culture and language. English is way more polite than Italian, and conflicts arose when discussing in our mother tongue, whereas in BCN it was easier to overcome them by thinking and working in English.
